How to Find Your Passion If You Have No Clue
I have always been a jack-of-all-trades type of person. There was never one of my interests that stood out among the rest. Some people grow up with one thing that they're obsessed with, and it doesn't change much over time, and I always envied those people. When they hear the advice "follow your passion," they have a clear idea of what they want and what their dream would be. It was never that clear for me. Maybe you're the same way?
Today my career is multifaceted and fulfilling, but I wouldn't have even known what to call what I do back when I was in high school! A writer-slash-youtuber-slash-designer? What even IS that? So, how did I get here even though I had pretty much zero direction or clarity? I just explored my interests.
I tried things. Some of the things that I tried didn't end up being right for me for whatever reason. There was some time "wasted" by not immediately jumping onto a traditional career path right after college, but with everything I tried, I got closer and closer to my ideal career / lifestyle. So now, I have found things that I'm passionate about that fits with my lifestyle and I feel very fulfilled in what I'm doing.
So, if this is something that you're currently struggling with, just pick something that you're interested in and jump in! Photography? Start taking pictures! Writing? Start a blog! Go work for someone for free or take a class. The only mistake you can make is sitting around thinking about what you want to do rather than trying things. Often times, we like the idea of things rather than the actual doing of the thing, so the only way to really see what you're into is to try it. And don't overthink it! I love the quote by Austin Kleon below...
Are you multipassionate? I'd love to hear your story in the comments below!
