Online Store Packaging Inspiration | Party-Style (plus a blast from the past)
I've noticed that my packaging posts tend to get the most love from you guys, so I thought you might enjoy a packaging inspiration series here on the blog. Personally, I'm super excited because I love love love a beautiful, well-branded order in the mail. As a lover of marketing, it's so fun to see how people carry their branding through in their orders.
There are so many great ideas out there, so I thought I would try to have a theme for each post in the series. This post is all about packaging with a celebratory / fun theme. This is for brands who want their customers to feel like they got a little party in the mail.
But first, let's start with a little flashback. This was my order packaging when I opened my first Etsy shop, selling wedding invitations:
Orders from this shop were at a fairly high price point so I wanted to really go the extra mile with my packaging. I definitely accomplished that! The orders were colorful and had lots of fun details like embossed tags, stamped muslin bags, and even a handmade washi tape garland at the top. It was super cute, but now that I have a lot more business-sense, I know that this packaging was way too labor intensive to ever be scaleable.
Your packaging needs to be attractive, but you also need to pay attention to the amount of labor that it requires. You should be able to whip up a package fairly quickly in order to stay efficient.
You also have to pay attention to costs. When I was a brand new online store owner, I was just picking up random supplies here and there at craft stores. I had no idea exactly how much each order cost me to ship. Now, I would recommend ordering packaging supplies in bulk, and having a clear plan of exactly what your orders will look like and how much they will cost.
If you're wanting a "party-style", celebratory brand, here is some inspiration that I found to help you accomplish that. Don't miss the bottom of the post, where I link to some great bulk packaging supplies that will help you achieve this look.
