Recent Design Work | Marietta Main Street
Can you believe that it's almost time for Christmas? This year has just flown by, and I can't quite make peace with the fact that I won't be able to wear shorts and tee shirts outside for several months. Sigh...that's life in Ohio for ya.
Anyway, part of the reason why time seems to just slip by these days is because I've been doing a lot more design work this year which has been keeping me really busy. My most recent project was redesigning the website for a local community group called Marietta Main Street.
When my husband and I decided to move back home, I knew that I wanted to get involved in the community in some way. But I've realized since moving back that I don't really have that much free time to join clubs and committees, so I was really happy when I was approached by a friend involved in Marietta Main Street to redo their site. It was a great way to get my foot in the door with local businesses, and to contribute to the community in a small way.
The main problem with their website was that it was set up like a blog. That set-up didn't really work for their purposes, and with all of the information on the site, it caused a cluttered look that they didn't love.
Another big problem was that Marietta Main Street holds several events throughout the year, and there wasn't a clear way of organizing that information for readers.
I created a few solutions to these problems by utilizing tools and designing graphics to create a cleaner look and an easier way of inputting information, so that they can easily keep their site up to date.
I also streamlined the information a little bit, and organized it in a way that has more of a natural, less overwhelming feel for the reader.
I had so much fun working on this project, and I think that Marietta Main Street will have a much easier time now with keeping their site updated and fresh.
