10 Habits of Super Productive People

Some days I feel like I have it all together, and then other days, I look back over the day and I think "Where did the time go?".

I have been actively trying to put more habits and systems in place so that I can make the most of my time (something that we're all trying to do, right?) so I've been doing some research on ways to boost productivity and I've found some interesting tips that I just had to share with you guys.

The biggest thing is that being super productive involves putting habits into place. Once something becomes a habit, you don't even have to think about it. So here are the top 10 habits that super productive people do every day:

1. They have dedicated planning time.
Take a half hour at the end of the day to plan for the next day, or a few minutes in the morning before you get started to plan out how you will spend your time that day, rather than just jumping in without focus.

2. They prioritize their to-do list.
Make a list, but be sure to note which items on the list must get done today. 

3. They take breaks.
Breaks? To get more done? Yes. Set a timer to work for a straight 90 minutes and then take a 5-10 minute break. This motivates you to work really hard during that time because you know that you have a break coming up. Try it - it really works.

4. They delegate.
Don't be afraid to outsource small tasks to someone else so that you can spend your time doing the important stuff.

5. They schedule their day based on their personal productivity cycle.
This tip really helped me. I tend to be the most productive in the first few hours of each morning. Because of that, I spend that time doing something that requires more energy, and I save the more menial tasks for the afternoon. For example, I used to walk Chester in the mornings, which was wasting that productivity window when I could have been getting tons of work done. Now I walk him in the afternoons when I'm starting to drag.

6. They limit technological distractions.
Not the easiest thing to do when you work on a computer, but try your hardest to stay off of Facebook and social media, or at least have a set time scheduled for them. It's unbelievable how much time can pass when you're aimlessly scrolling.

7. They forget about perfection.
Just start the thing. There will never be a perfect time so just jump in and work on the task that needs done. When I find myself procrastinating on something that seems overwhelming to me I remind myself of the quote, "Nothing will make you feel better but doing the work."

8. They don't compare themselves to others.
Don't define your success the way that other people do, and don't spend your time looking around at what everyone else is doing. Get rid of envy in your life, and other negative emotions. They are time wasters and will only bring you down.

9. They know exactly what they want.
If you don't know where you're going, you will waste a lot of time going aimlessly in lots of different directions. Write down your specific goals, visualize them, and get to work.

10. They limit TV time.
I know, Netflix is amazing. I'm not saying that you should never watch TV, but studies show that success and amount of time spend watching TV have a negative correlation. Be intentional about the way that you spend your time. If you want to watch a show at the end of the night, fine, but just like with social media, try to avoid spending hours watching mindlessly. It's not really all that relaxing if you think about it, and it's certainly not good for your productivity.
