Do Less With More Focus (Plus a Free Printable Worksheet)
I used to be all over the place.
I am the type of person who has a multitude of passions and interests, and it was impossible for me to pick just one. For the first few years of going out on my own and attempting to be an entrepreneur and blogger, my progress was slow and very up and down. It was so frustrating to me to be working my butt off, but not seeing much success from it. I literally felt like I was spending all of my time working, but not making much money at all. So discouraging.
I wasn't focused, and I was trying to do way too much.
Because I have so many interests, I would often get distracted by what other people were doing. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, and I didn't have a specific, long-term plan. I went into the creative-entrepreneur-zone after college, feeling like it was all such a fun and amazing new world, and I didn't understand the intricacies of all of the different parts of it. I didn't have a plan.
Since then, I have gotten much better at figuring out the focus for my blog / shop, and learning more about my target reader / customer. What I've learned is that the more I focus, the more successful I become.
That's why my motto for 2016 is:
Do less, with more focus.
Because I've learned that focus works, I have been really taking it up a notch recently. I know exactly who I'm writing for and selling to. I know exactly the type of lifestyle that I want. I know exactly the type of work that I want to do.
I have been working on saying, "no" a LOT more than I did in the past. If you're saying, "yes" to every opportunity that comes your way, you will be scattered, unfocused, and your growth will be sllloooww (take it from me).
